Bran Castle Halloween: Dates, Tickets, Parties and Getting There at Night
Bran Castle Halloween is the castle's own event in late October. Bran Castle runs a Halloween event from October 24 to November 1, with themed day tours, a night tour with a party in a gala tent, a celebrity-chef dinner, and a private party for 100 guests inside the castle. It is the one time of year when Dracula's Castle leans fully into its own legend, and the busiest stretch of the calendar. The castle is marketed worldwide as Dracula's Castle, the home of Bram Stoker's count, even though Stoker never described Bran and Vlad the Impaler had no significant role here. The event sells out anyway. This guide walks through every ticket tier and what it costs, how to reach Bran and get back at night, what to wear against the cold and the stairs, and the cautions worth knowing before you book. To see how the event fits around a daytime trip, start with Dracula Castle tours.

Quick answer Halloween at Bran Castle: dates, ticket tiers, night logistics and what to expect
The Halloween event at Bran Castle runs from October 24 to November 1. Tickets start at 100 lei ($21.04) for the New Moon daytime Halloween tour and the Blue Moon family day on November 1, and rise to 3,000 lei ($631.14) for the Eclipse VIP private party inside the castle, limited to 100 guests. The Blood Moon ticket includes the party in the gala tent in the Royal Park from 21:00 to 04:00. There are no regular guided tours during the event. Day tours from Bucharest and Brasov run by daylight on other days, so most visitors pair the party with a castle trip earlier in the week.
Key takeaways
- The event runs October 24 to November 1, and no regular guided tours take place during it, so plan any full castle visit for another day.
- The Blood Moon ticket at 800 lei ($168.30) buys the evening tour plus the party in the gala tent from 21:00 to 04:00, details in the ticket table below.
- The last bus from Brasov to Bran leaves around 20:30, so staying overnight in Bran or Brasov is the practical choice for the party.
- Bran sits at 760 m (2,500 ft) and the average low in late October is 4.6°C (40°F), so warm layers matter more than a costume.
- If you want the castle by daylight first, the Bran Castle, Rasnov Fortress and Peles Castle Small-Group Tour from Brasov puts you inside with a real guide and leaves your Halloween evening free.

What each Halloween ticket actually includes
The daytime tiers
The New Moon daytime Halloween tour, from October 24 to 30, is a themed version of a normal castle visit at the standard adult price. The Blue Moon family day on November 1 works the same way and closes the event. Children aged 5 to 17 normally pay 40 lei ($8.42) for standard entry, though the event information does not state separate child prices for the Halloween tiers.
The party tiers
Everything on October 31 climbs in price. The New Moon ticket at 300 lei ($63.11) covers the Halloween tour on October 31 itself. The Blood Moon ticket adds the evening tour and the party in the gala tent in the Royal Park, running from 21:00 to 04:00.
That is an all-night commitment, so think about where you will sleep afterwards. The Full Moon ticket builds in a dinner by a celebrity chef in the Tea House, the restaurant at the foot of the castle in the Royal Park. The Eclipse VIP ticket is the top of the range: a private party inside the castle itself, capped at 100 guests.
One important limit
The castle states plainly that no regular guided tours run during the event. If your plan was to join a guided Halloween visit in the normal sense, that product does not exist. The daytime day tours compared below run on other dates.
How much a Halloween trip really costs with a day tour
Because no regular guided tours run during the event, the common pattern is to visit the castle by daylight on an earlier day and come back for Halloween night. The trips compared here are day tours to Bran Castle from Bucharest, Brasov, Sibiu and Cluj-Napoca, and the prices below come from their listings. Note that most listings exclude the castle entry fee, which is 100 lei ($21.04) for adults, or 90 to 200 lei ($18.93 to $42.08) depending on the option, per the Brasov small-group listing.
| Day tour | Departs | Price | Castle entry included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dracula's Castle, Peles Castle and Brasov Day Trip from Bucharest | Bucharest | $22 | No |
| Three Castles Day Trip from Bucharest: Bran, Peles and Cantacuzino with Brasov | Bucharest | $31 | No |
| Bran Castle, Bear Sanctuary and Rasnov Citadel Tour from Brasov | Brasov | $55 | No |
| Bran Castle, Rasnov Fortress and Peles Castle Small-Group Tour from Brasov | Brasov | $77.82 | No |
| Dracula's Castle Day Tour and Guided Brasov Walk from Sibiu | Sibiu | $101 | No |
| Dracula's Castle and Birthplace Tour: Bran and Sighisoara from Cluj-Napoca | Cluj-Napoca | $164 | Yes |
If you only want the cheapest way in, the Dracula's Castle, Peles Castle and Brasov Day Trip from Bucharest is the most reviewed option in the catalog, though both castle tickets are paid on top. To weigh all the options at a glance, compare Dracula Castle tours on the homepage.

How to get to Bran for a Halloween night
Bran is a village, not a city, and late-night transport is the weakest link in the plan. The castle stands 25 km (16 mi) southwest of Brasov on road DN73, and 160 km (99 mi) from Bucharest, about 2.5 hours by car.
From Brasov
Brasov to Bran is 30 km (19 mi), about 35 minutes by car. Buses from Brasov Autogara 2 to the centre of Bran run roughly hourly through the day, from about 05:30 to 20:30, taking about an hour at 15 lei ($3.16) one way. The bus stop in Bran is near the main castle entrance.
That last departure is the problem: a party that runs to 04:00 has no bus home. There is no railway to Bran.
From Bucharest
By car from Bucharest it is 160 km (99 mi) on DN1/E60, about 2.5 hours. Trains run from Bucharest Nord to Brasov, about 30 a day, with the fastest InterCity taking about 2 hours 15 minutes and the lowest 2nd-class fare about 68 lei ($14.31). You would still need the bus or a car from Brasov, and again nothing runs after the party ends.
The practical answer
Stay in Bran itself, which is walking distance from the gate, or stay in Brasov and take a taxi for the 35-minute ride. Book both the Halloween ticket and the room well ahead. The castle's own advice is that tickets often sell out well in advance.
More detail on the routes is in our guide to how to get to Bran Castle from Bucharest.

Pairing the party with a daylight castle visit
Since no regular guided tours run during the event, the best itinerary is simple: see the castle properly on a day tour earlier in the week, then return for the Halloween night you booked. Tours from Brasov work best because Brasov is also the sensible base for the party.
From Brasov, the easiest pairing
The Bran Castle, Rasnov Fortress and Peles Castle Small-Group Tour from Brasov runs in a group of at most seven with a professional guide, and reaches Bran around midday with free time at the market and the Tea House in the courtyard. The Bran Castle, Bear Sanctuary and Rasnov Citadel Tour from Brasov is the shortest day in the catalog at about 6 hours, with roughly 2 hours at the castle.
From further afield
If your trip starts elsewhere, the Dracula's Castle Day Tour and Guided Brasov Walk from Sibiu leaves Sibiu at 09:00, gives you three hours at Bran for a self-guided visit and lunch, and finishes with a guided walk in Brasov, so you could simply stay over for Halloween. From Cluj-Napoca, the Dracula's Castle and Birthplace Tour: Bran and Sighisoara from Cluj-Napoca is the only listing here that includes the Bran Castle ticket and links the castle to the real Vlad Dracula at his birthplace in Sighisoara. Our guide to the best time to visit Bran Castle covers how October crowds compare with the rest of the year.
What the night actually feels like
Bran sits at 760 m (2,500 ft) in the Carpathian foothills, and the castle is a genuine medieval building, begun after a privilege from Louis I of Hungary dated November 19, 1377. Inside there are narrow staircases, including one hidden staircase between floors, small rooms, a courtyard with a well, and the add-on Torture Rooms exhibit. After dark, in costume crowds, the atmosphere writes itself.
The honest history
The castle is marketed abroad as Dracula's Castle, but the marketing is a modern layer. There is no evidence that Bram Stoker knew of Bran, and his crumbling fictional castle bears no resemblance to it. Vlad the Impaler does not seem to have had a significant role in the fortress's history, although he passed several times through the Bran Gorge.
His real fortress was Poenari, reached by 1,480 steps, and none of the catalog tours goes there. Read more in our guide to where Dracula's castle really is.
Late October weather
The average afternoon high at Bran in October is 13.4°C (56°F) and the average night low is 4.6°C (40°F), with about 58 mm of rain across the month. In November the averages drop to a high of 8.2°C (47°F) and a low of 0.6°C (33°F). A party that runs from 21:00 to 04:00 sits squarely in the coldest hours, outdoors in the Royal Park.

What to wear to the Bran Castle Halloween party
Dress for a cold night in the mountains first and a costume second. Layers under whatever you wear, a warm coat, closed shoes with grip, and a hat make the difference between lasting until 04:00 and leaving at 23:00. The castle keeps luggage to a minimum for security checks, so bring a small bag only.
- Warm layers under your costume, plus a coat for the park between 21:00 and 04:00
- Closed, flat shoes with grip, the castle warns the walkways and stairs can be slippery
- A hat and gloves, Bran sits at 760 m (2,500 ft) and the late October low averages 4.6°C (40°F)
- A small bag only, security checks apply and luggage should be kept to a minimum
- Cash or card for the market stalls at the entrance and the Tea House
Cautions before you book
Most people will have a great night, but four things are worth weighing honestly before you spend on the top tiers.
- Claustrophobia: the castle is a maze of narrow staircases, small rooms and tight passages, and the night event is crowded. Daytime standard entry already feels tight in high season.
- Flashing lights: the castle itself warns visitors who are sensitive to flashing lights to take care during the event.
- Loud noise: the castle warns about loud noises, and the gala-tent party runs until 04:00.
- Slippery stairs: the castle warns of low temperatures and slippery walkways and stairs during the event. Sturdy flat shoes are not optional.
- Refunds: the castle's event information does not state a refund policy for the Halloween tiers, so read the terms at checkout before paying.
Halloween at Bran versus a normal visit
If the party tiers feel like too much, a standard visit still delivers the castle at a fraction of the price, and the day tours from the catalog make it effortless.
